Excerpt from the Book:
Lord God, help me not to be ashamed of the broken pieces in my life. Give me courage to look at all of it and not discard anything. Give me strength to gather all of the leftovers together, bring them to you, and experience a miracle. May the abundance of your blessings include all of me, even the parts of me that I may wish to discard. Help me to trust that even the worst that evil can do is completely transformed in your amazing grace. Amen
DAY 2 God’s Time
Most people don’t want to waste time. I am one of them. I always look for the shortest line in the grocery store so that I can efficiently go in and out as quickly as possible. Lately, I have become a fan of Instacart – I tap and it’s delivered! I want the quickest route to wherever I am driving, and if the app tells me there is a way to save two minutes by getting off at another exit I will eagerly comply. I like one pot meals with few ingredients, showers not baths, things to buy that are already assembled, haircuts that don’t involve a blow dry. The time that I don’t want to waste is what most people refer to as chronological time. The time measured on a clock or calendar: the three (or four) score years and ten that frame our time on earth. Most often when we talk about time, this is the kind of time we are referring to.

About the Author

It’s great being a Chaplain at the VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, working with our Veterans in addictions and mental health! Hearing their courageous stories of faith inspires me to write about the healing, transforming power of Christ in whatever ways I can. I think kids have a special knack for tuning into that spiritual reality that brings hope and meaning to our lives. I had so much fun updating the Joona Trilogy and making it work for a new generation! There is so much to write about when it comes to God, who may not always be understandable but who is always desirable.
I am married to a clinical psychologist husband who works out of Burlpres church in Burlingame CA. We like to fish, play tennis, go to the ocean with our golden retriever and golden doodle, and sail. Our three grown kids are nearby and we enjoy spending time with them too! I am a Princeton Seminary graduate and a Boston University School of Theology Doctoral nerd. I think that is all except I love it when people read what I write and comment. So please do!
