Are you or someone you love on the wrong path?
The Bible Companion Book 8 Isaiah–Daniel helps us see both warning and hope in the messages of the prophets. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scripture without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal, group, or homeschool Bible study.
The Major Prophets give us perspectives of judgment that challenge our lifestyles and understanding of God. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel help us see the Lord at work in dark times. Whether you are suffering the consequences of your own sin or caught in the fallout of the choices of others, The Bible Companion Book 8 points you toward a sovereign God whose power redeems tragedies and transforms them into new beginnings.
Excerpt from the Book
They would know that the man/animal creatures announce royalty. Similar images were made into statues in ancient Near Eastern courts. They symbolize strength and represent spiritual forces thought to protect the king and his kingdom.
The picture of a god riding on a cloud was also common in Mesopotamian mythology. Yahweh, adopting the language of the culture, had been revealing Himself using this imagery for centuries.
A mobile throne emerging from a brilliantly lit cloud makes it clear that we are in the presence of deity.
The imagery wouldn’t shock the exiles, but seeing Yahweh by the Kebar River on His throne would. As they suffer in exile, they believe the Lord resides in the temple in Jerusalem. Ezekiel’s vision reveals that Yahweh is with them. In Babylon. His spirit moves freely among them. And sees all.
This vision speaks powerfully to us when we feel we are beyond God’s reach. The Lord is not confined to any place. Our circumstances do not deter Him. He sees what we are going through and meets us where we are. Psalm 139:8 says, “If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” Even when we feel alone and powerless, God is sovereign, present, and active.
COMPANION THOUGHT
